Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met here today with Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi who arrived in Damascus earlier in the day on a visit to Syria. The meeting dealt with changes in the Arab world and the need to unify Arab efforts and to enhance work within the Arab League to find solutions to Arab issues, especially the Palestinian problem . The talks also dealt with the situation in Libya, and the need to stop the bloodshed there. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said during the meeting Al-Assad briefed Al-Arabi on the reforms being undertaken by Syria, and plans to overcome the circumstances it is passing through in the path of building a modern democratic state. For his part, Al-Arabi expressed the Arab League’s rejection of the attempts of foreign intervention in Syrian affairs and its support of reforms in Syria
