 His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, Honorary President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts (BMMA) Association, and founder of Khalid bin Hamad Sports Organisation, has received President of India’s National Congress Party Rahul Ghandi and his accompanying delegation, praising Bahrain-India friendship and cooperation ties in various fields that contributed in the Kingdom’s progress.
HH Shaikh Khalid highlighted Bahrain’s pioneering role in the development of its bilateral ties with the various sisterly and friendly nations as an example of coordination and cooperation in various vital fields of development, which witnessed the implementation of numerous projects that boosted the country’s development and growth, boosting the deep-rooted people-to-people ties in turn, that reflects the leadership’s keenness and openness policy onto the world to bolster the bonds and achieve the shared interests in terms of development as well as confirming the role of taking all steps aimed to boost the security and the effective participation in the developmental process, which were constantly accorded the community members’ appreciation and respect.

His Highness and the Indian delegation discussed Bahrain’s athletic accomplishments thanks to the patronage and support of the wise leadership to the sports sector. His Highness talked with the delegation about the efforts exerted by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, in supporting the motorsport which yielded positive returns in terms of Bahrain’s hosting the Formula One championships that boosted its prestigious position globally.

His Highness talked about the progress of Bahraini sports in general and especially the equestrian and endurance game, the IronMan Championship, Bahrain’s hosting the IMMAF’s World Championship2017, lauding the initiatives and steps taken by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa the representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, and his implementation of the directives of the leadership via the sports development strategy, adding that Bahrain seeks to activate the game of cricket locally by launching a tournament for this game.

HH Shaikh Khalid reviewed His Highness's initiative of organizing BRAVE championships that met with wide acclamation in the world’s sports circles, as part of His Highness’s initiatives to boost this sport internationally.

His Highness explored with his guests the ways and means of boosting this game at the international level, praising the Republic of India’s supporting this championship by hosting the fifth edition that resulted in unprecedented resounding success.

NCP President Rahul Ghandi praised the steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain in boosting sports, citing the tremendous role of HH Shaikh Khalid in supporting the various sports especially the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) which resulted in Bahrain’s numerous international accomplishments, affirming that India always welcomes the steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to boost the solid bilateral ties between both friendly countries and peoples. He also said India always welcomes the hosting of any sports championship or tournament organized by Bahrain on its territories, which will present opportunity to develop the sports sector in both countries.

Towards the end of their meeting, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa received a commemorative gift from the President of India’s National Congress Party, on this occasion.
