Rio De Janeiro - Xinhua

Brazilian presidency's blog suffered a hacking attack on Thursday and was defaced by a protesting post published by the hacker, local press reported. The attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the intruder posted on the presidency's home page a photograph of a recent protest against corruption, in which protesters put green and yellow brooms in front of the Congress building. The photograph was accompanied by a message, in which the hacker called for the end to corruption in Brazil and for open voting in the Congress. "Votes are currently secret, not allowing electors to know how the representatives are actually voting. Politicians should be righteous, incorruptible," said the hacker, who signed the message as "@DonR4UL." According to the government, no data was stolen. The presidency's technology department took the page offline and restored it to normality hours later. In June, some 200 Brazilian government websites suffered major hacking attacks, among which are the Internal Revenue Service, Institute of Geography and Statistics and state-controlled oil and gas giant Petrobras. The hackers which invaded the government websites in June also called for an end to government corruption and complained about the high fuel prices in the country.
