Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid deemed Egypt’s Darul Ifta initiative to host the third international conference through the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide as "a new contribution to fighting extremist ideology".
The three-day conference will open Tuesday in Cairo under the title "The Role of Fatwa in Creating a Stable Society", with the participation of multi-regional delegations from 50 countries.
The Foreign Ministry is coordinating with Darul Ifta to focus on efforts exerted by Egypt to stamp out extremism and terrorism at the international level, the spokesman said.
He also stressed the Foreign Ministry's keenness on offering all support for the conference that reflects the leading role of Egypt's religious institutions in fighting religious extremism and erroneous Fatwas.
