A Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) official was killed by a car bomb in the restive republic of Ingushetia on Tuesday, officials say. Police say the FSB officer was killed when the bomb went off in a car in the republic's largest city, Nazran, in the afternoon. A policeman was gunned down on Saturday in Ingushetia, a day after a regional FSB headquarters came under fire in the republic of Dagestan. Russia has been battling a low-level Islamist insurgency in several republics in the North Caucasus. Ingushetia, along with Dagestan, has seen the brunt of the fighting in recent years.
