Caracas - Xin

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez cancelled a cabinet meeting on Sunday after doctors recommended he continue to rest until he fully recovered from a sore throat, Information Minister Andres Izarra said Sunday. "The president woke up this morning with a slight infection in his throat, therefore doctors recommended a complete rest of his voice," Izarra told local media.Chavez would stay at home until doctors gave him a clean bill of health, the minister said. The throat infection is believed to have been caused by the president's weakened immune system after three rounds of chemotherapy he has received since July as part of the treatment for his cancer.Izarra gave further details about Chavez's health.
