New York began casting ballots Tuesday in a high-stakes presidential primary, with Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump hoping to secure big wins in the race for the White House.
Polls opened at 6:00 am (1000 GMT) and close at 9:00 pm (0100 GMT Wednesday) in the most consequential primary in decades in the America's fourth-largest state.
Those eligible to vote include New York's 5.8 million registered Democrats and 2.7 million registered Republicans. To the disadvantage of Clinton challenger Bernie Sanders, independents are barred from participating
