Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is preparing to host the second edition of this year’s prestigious bi-annual event, Art Nights, on 23rd November 2016, from 7pm-10pm.
Embracing DIFC’s sense of community, the free-to-attend event will bring together contemporary artists, established and new talent and global cuisine for an evening of culture and entertainment.
Raja Al Mazrouei, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications at DIFC Authority, said, "As one of the highly anticipated cultural events of the DIFC’s calendar, we are delighted once again to host and welcome renowned artists and exhibitors, as well as promising fresh talent. The success of Art Nights is testimony to DIFC’s popularity with tenants, visitors and the wider community, highlighting the centre’s popularity as not just a place to do business but a true cosmopolitan, cultural, urban space."
The event will showcase artists and talent from all over the world. It will take place across indoor and outdoor venues throughout in the DIFC’s Gate Village and include exhibitions and special events from many of the local galleries.
Visitors to the Art Nights can enjoy numerous exciting showcases, including ‘Intrude XL’ by Amanda Parer, an installation designed to provoke thought about the natural world using light and dark, humour and drama; ‘High Expectations’, by Ashat Akhmediarov, an intriguing art installation, composed of 180 low-stools; and ‘Breathe’, a live performance curated by Bebe Leone and executed by Italian artist Giulio Cassanelli, focusing on the alchemy between soap, ink and gravity.
‘Let Go and Go with the Flow’, an interactive art piece by World Art Dubai and Mawaheb calling for audience participation will be displayed at the event. This interactive art piece will allow visitors to express themselves using words or paint, directly onto a specially constructed structure.
Ayyam Gallery will present a solo show called "Migration Stories", by Los Angeles-based artist Farzad Kohan, who records the experiences of Middle Eastern migrants who have resettled in the United States or Europe.
Audiences will also experience The Cuadro Gallery, displaying a solo exhibition called 'Saints and Sinners', by London based artists The Connor Brothers. This exhibition uses collage to subvert the meaning of old master paintings and vintage romance novels and reinterprets objects from the past providing a humorous commentary on contemporary society’s obsession with wealth, fame and the unrealistic idealism of advertisings' vision of relationships.
Celebrating the UAE’s noble tradition of Falconry, Columbia Threadneedle Investments will showcase a stunning photography exhibition, ‘Falcons of Arabia,’ bringing a unique collection of photographs which explore the ancestral sport of falconry in the Arabian Peninsula.
Providing the culinary and musical backdrop to art and culture, restaurants across the DIFC will be celebrating Art Nights with a number of special offers, including Indie Restaurant, which will host a live band in the Gate Village playing upbeat jazz and funk music. Guests can enjoy the music along with an assortment of eclectic global cuisine, including canap?s made from the restaurant’s signature dishes. Indie will also offer a selection of fresh and creative mocktails, developed specifically to complement the evening.
In addition, guests can enjoy Bazxar’s pop-up mocktail bar selection of canap?s inspired from South East Asia, Europe and the Americas paired with the finest beverages that will give Art Nights visitors a culinary journey to gastronomy heaven.
Firebird Diner, well known for its gourmet interpretation of American cuisine, will showcase a live band playing all American classics, accompanied by American burger sliders and milkshakes.Dubai International Financial Centre Hosts second Art Nights of 2016 Renowned artists join the successful bi-annual event, showcasing live art installations, live music performances and a variety of global cuisine .
