Minister of Petroleum Tareq el Mulla accompanied by a senior delegation attended the first day of the activities of the International Conference & Exhibition on Mining in Toronto.
Up to 30,000 representatives from 65 countries and major mining companies participate in the event.
Mulla took part in a session organized by the African mining authority, according to a statement of the Petroleum Ministry Monday.
Mulla said that Egypt is rich in mining wealth that should be economically used, adding that more international investments should be attracted in this promising sector to effectively contribute to the Egyptian national income, the statement said.
Mulla also conferred with the executive chairman of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum on benefiting from the expertise of the institute to boost the abilities of the workers in the sector of mining in Egypt.
The chairman of the institute welcomed offering all aspects of support to promote investment opportunities in the mining sector in Egypt in light of the good relations binding both countries.
The Canadian official invited the Egyptian delegation to participate in the annual conference of the institute due in May in Montreal.
