The technical and directory committee for cooperation among the Egyptian and Ugandan ministries of water resources, irrigation and environment convened in Cairo on Monday.
In statements on Monday, Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Ati said the meeting falls within the framework of following up the implementation of projects of the Egyptian and Ugandan water and environment ministries.
In January 2010, the Egyptian and Ugandan ministries of water and environment signed a memo to implement vital projects at a 4.5 million dollar Egyptian grant, including digging 75 wells in various parts of Uganda to secure drinking water and establish several dams to benefit from rains.
The minister said Egypt is keen on offering technical assistance and grants to its neighboring Nile Basin states, especially Uganda.
In 2015, Egypt's Arab Contractors Company signed a contract with Uganda on establishing projects to ditch the dangers of floods, the minister noted.
The head of the Nile water sector, Ahmed Bahaa Eddin, said Egypt spares no effort to provide technical assistance to promote cooperation with Uganda.
He said there are two development projects between the two sides; one in to get rid of water grass and another one for establishing water tanks and digging wells for potable water.
Egypt also works on honing skills of Ugandan cadres in the water resources and irrigation domain, he said.
