Extremist Jewish groups continue their presence for the second day in Al-Aqsa Mosque, roaming its courtyards under heavy police protection on the occasion of Tisha B''av, the Jewish commemoration of the destruction of the temple. Israeli police began letting in small groups of extremists through Dung Gate, the only gate that Israel has the key to. The police is heavily guarding these groups as they roam the mosque and threatening Muslim worshipers with dire consequences if they approach the extremists, including prosecution, detention and removal from the mosque, Palestine news agency (WAFA) reported Tuesday. The police also tightened security on the other gates of the mosque, stopping Palestinian youth and seizing their IDs. A number of Al-Aqsa guards said there is great tension in the grounds of the mosque. This is the first time that Jewish extremists roam the mosque during Ramadan, the holy Muslim month of prayer and fasting; this act provokes Muslim worshippers and causes great anger especially amongst the youth.
