Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has announced that the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states will convene here on December 9 to put the final touches on the agenda of the 34th GCC Summit, due on December 10-11.
In a press conference after chairing the 129th session of the GCC foreign ministers council, held here Wednesday, Sheikh Sabah Khaled said the meeting has tackled a wide array of political, economic, legal, environmental and human rights issues of common interest.
He noted that the ministers have discussed thoroughly several proposals to expand GCC cooperation to achieve the aspired integration as well as the efforts exerted to strengthen relations with Jordanian and Moroccan monarchies.
The ministers also touched upon the latest regional and political developments including the ongoing crisis in Syria, Iran-West nuclear agreement, the implementation of the Gulf-brokered power-transition deal in Yemen and the situation in Egypt.
Also in preparation for the summit, the GCC foreign ministers held meetings Wednesday with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Delegate Minister at the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Imbarka Buaida, Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi and Chairwoman and members of the Consultative Commission of the GCC Supreme Council Sheikh Mariam bint Hassan Al Khalifa.
The Kuwaiti top diplomat added the conferees have agreed on holding another meeting on December 9 to complete preparations for the Kuwait-hosted summit.
The Minister pointed out that Kuwait will chair this year's round and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah tours Gulf states to meet and discuss with the Gulf leaders issues of common concern in preparation for the summit
