The government has anticipated security disturbances during Christmas and New Year holidays, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto said.

"We anticipate security threats every year," Wiranto stated, after a limited cabinet meeting here, on Monday.

The senior minister pointed out that National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian had coordinated with TNI Commander Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto to deploy security forces optimally in an effort to oversee community activities.

"We anticipate all community activities carefully," Wiranto remarked.

"The government has taken serious efforts regarding security stability, food prices, and transportation tariffs," the minister said.

President Joko Widodo earlier chaired a special limited cabinet meeting to discuss preparations for Christmas and New Year holidays.

The president urged the Police, the Military, and the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) to assure maximum security and increase supervision in public places such as airports, ports, stations, and bus terminals ahead of the celebrations.

"We expect the involvement of the community in maintaining and building peaceful atmosphere during year-end festivities," the president pointed out
