British Foreign Secretary William Hague renewed his country's stand calling for establishing a Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders and that al quds would be a capital for the two safe states, Palestine And Israel. Hague considered the israeli settlements in the occupied palestinian territories as illegal considering it an obstacle impeding the peace process. In his replies to Twitter users on the internet , Hague said his country is supporting the diplomatic process and is closely working with the US and the European Union in this regard. William Hague has strongly backs Barack Obama's call on Israel to retreat to its 1967 borders to secure peace with Palestine. The American intervention was "important because only the United States can really decisively deliver Israel into a peace agreement and give them the necessary assurances", he said. He further said, "It means that as he comes to the United Kingdom this week, on the Middle East process and the wider subject of the future of North Africa and the Middle East the policies of the UK and US are as closely aligned as they have ever been." William Hague, also agreed with "Obama's clear message that the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps. " European Union spokesperson Maja Kocijancic said the principles put forward by Obama for Middle East peace had been backed by the 27-member bloc of European countries for some time.
