US Ambassador Robert Blake and Director General of Sea Transportation Bobby Mamahit congratulated 24 KPLP (Indonesian Coast Guard) officers for completing a two-week Boarding Officer Course last Friday.
The US Embassy website stated that the course, taught by four instructors from the US Coast Guard, was part of the assistance extended by the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program to train officers.
According to the embassy, the officers are trained to board and inspect vessels at sea in Indonesian waters, using the law enforcement training equipment donated by the EXBS.
Ambassador Blake noted: "I appreciate the strong, collaborative relationship established between the KPLP and the Export Control and Related Border Security Program. I hope our collective efforts ultimately produce a secure, global maritime environment that benefits all nations."
