Cairo - Arab Today

International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nassr received on Sunday European Union (EU) delegation to Egypt charge d'affaires Reinhold Brender to discuss preparations for EU High Representative Federica Mogherini’s visit to Cairo on Monday.

Mogherini’s two-day visit aims to discuss fostering bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Nassr asserted the importance of the visit especially that the EU is considered an important and active partner to Egypt in development, pointing out to the deep-rooted relations between Egypt and the EU.

She also underlined the importance of the EU's support to medium- and small-sized enterprises in Egypt for its role in providing job opportunities to youths and women as well as increasing the number of students benefiting from school feeding to reach 500,000 students.

They also discussed means of boosting relations within EU aid to Egypt in 2014-2016 that reached 311-380 million euros. The aid program aims to reduce poverty and improve economic and social development and social protection as well as supporting governance and transparency and business environment.
