Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast commented on the latest developments in Libya, particularly the death of the former Libyan dictator Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. “Despots and oppressors throughout history have no fate other than destruction and death,” Mehmanparast said in reaction of Gaddafi’s death. He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran felicitates the great victory for the Islamic Republic of Iran that has been achieved in light of resistance of the Libyan nation. “This has been the doomed fate of all oppressors and tyrants throughout the history due to the fact that they ignore the rights of the nations with the manner in which they rule their countries,” Mehmanparast added. He pointed out that there is still hope that with the end of Gaddafi’s dictatorship in Libya and the beginning of a new chapter in north African country’s political life, the way is paved for formation of a national government in that country. “We expect and end to civil war in that country, establishment of stability and security there, as well as coming to power of a democratic government in Libya,” Mehmanparast added. The official stated that in view of the new developments in Libya and materialization of one of the main wishes of the Libyan people there will be no other pretext for continuation of intervention by foreign forces in Libya. “It is necessary that with immediate exit of foreign troops from Libya, the Libyan people will find the opportunity to decide about their own fate in an atmosphere free from any foreign intervention,” he said. Mehmanparast also voiced Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness for transfer of its experiences to Libya and participation in reconstruction of the Arab African country.
