Tehran - Qna

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday called for the Iran-Pakistan unity in fighting terrorism, extremism and contribution to settlement of regional problems. Talking to Pakistani Prime Minister Seyed Yusuf Raza Guilani on Monday, Iranian President Ahmadinejad underlined that enemies of Iranian and Pakistani nations favor spread of insecurity in the region, trying to impede regional states'' progress because their survivor depends on insecurity, division and separation of nations, according to Iranian (IRNA) News Agency. He noted that Tehran and Islamabad share common interests and enemies. Iranian president went on to say that regional states have an immense capacity to affect global equations and this is why the hegemonic powers have special attitude towards the region, trying to stir dispersion and insecurity there and prevent any unity among regional states. He said campaign against terrorism and extremism is possible through unity and coordination among nations and governments. President Ahmadinejad also thanked Pakistan for caring about security of its borders with Iran, saying more coordination should be made to remove the problem drastically. Guilani said in return that Tehran and Islamabad can take effective steps in campaign against terrorism. Pakistan wants independent and prosperous Afghanistan, having its national sovereignty right, said Guilani, adding that Islamabad believes that both countries should get united against common enemy. He then called for Iran-Pakistan cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, agriculture and culture. He urged bilateral cooperation on the regional and international levels too.
