The new and alarming pressure exerted by Daesh in Libya was at the center of a telephone conversation held late Monday evening between Italian Foreign Affairs Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Libya’s Prime Minister-designate Fayez al Sarraj.
Sarraj expressed to the Italian Government his deep concern for escalating clashes and for the eastward advancement of Sirte-based terrorist units, the Italian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
Gentiloni reiterated Italy’s commitment to fight terrorism and its full support for the stabilization efforts made by the Presidency Council and the Government of National Accord.
