Kuwait Information Ministry Undersecretary Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and Mayor of Milan Giuliano Pisapia inaugurated Monday "Kuwait Days in Milan," held in this Italian city under auspices of Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. Sheikh Salman and Pisapia inaugurated the event within the vacinity of El Duomo Cathedral, the symbol of Milan with its Cothic-style construction. The opening ceremony was attended by Kuwait's Ambassador to Italy Sheikh Jaber Duaij Al-Sabah, senior Italian officials and journalists. Sheikh Salman said he was happy to represent the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister in these media and cultural activities which reflected the "historic and progressing" relations between Kuwait and Italy. The "Kuwait Days in Milan" feature participation of ministries, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), Environment Public Authority (EPA), Public Authority for Industry, the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Kuwait Sciences Club and Kuwait Petroleum International. This event "is held out of Kuwait's belief in the importance of openness on different cultures and to make use of the experiences and to deepen relations, " said Sheikh Salman. The event, he added, "is a good opportunity for the Italian citizen to get acquainted with the culture of Kuwait." Pisapia, meanwhile, welcomed the Kuwaiti delegates in the event "which will deepen our knowledge in Kuwait ... as well as to study new horizons of exchanges and investments between Milan and Italy on one hand and Kuwait on the other." The Mayor said the media and cultural activities would highlight Kuwait's cultural, economic and scientific nature. He highly appreciated Kuwait's great attention to human rights and role of women in social and political lives. Pisapia hoped the event would pave way for further cooperation in economic, cultural and scientific domains.
