A leading Kuwaiti diplomat has indicated that Kuwait could examine the South Korean experience at the level of education, also hinting that useful lessons could be taken from the Koreans' democratic system, based on laws and accountability.Kuwait could benefit from the South Korean experience in the sector of development, said the visiting Director-General of Kuwait Diplomatic Institute (KDI) Ambassador Abdul-Aziz Al-Sharekh, during the 8th symposium on cooperation between the Asian nation and Middle East states, held on the island of Jeju.Al-Sharekh touched on the South Koreans' concern that consequences of the "Arab spring events" might affect the ties between South Korea and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). However, he made the point that these protests were caused by internal factors, namely peoples' demand for democracy and development.Assuring further the Korean side, he pointed out that the Kuwaiti Constitution, enacted in 1962, set the basis for democracy in the Gulf country. Nevertheless, Kuwait could benefit from the Korean experience in the realms of democracy and education.Meanwhile, the veteran Kuwaiti diplomat, in an interview with the international Korean television channel, Arirang, shed light on the ties between the two countries, praised role of the Korean companies in Kuwait, namely their construction of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port.
