Lenin Moreno has won Ecuador's presidential election, election authorities announced Tuesday.
The former vice president to outgoing President Rafael Correa won 51.16 per cent of the vote in Sunday's second-round run-off against conservative Guillermo Lasso, the National Electoral Council said in a televised announcement.
The announcement came a day after Moreno declared victory and vowed to work tirelessly to find solutions for pressing social problems like homelessness and illiteracy.
