On the conclusion of the UN Security Council's 66th session, Prime Minister Najib Mikati held several diplomatic encounters which he had begun by meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. The latter conveyed, during their meeting, the UN's support for Lebanon's prosperity and territorial integrity and conveyed relief over the ongoing cooperation between UNIFIL and Lebanese Army. "We are concerned in having Lebanese government provide necessary funds for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, care for Palestinian refugees' situation, and reconstruct Nahr-El-Bared camp, he said.As for his part, Mikati reiterated President Michel Suleiman's words on Lebanon's commitment to respect international legitimacy decisions and voiced the country's respect to STL decisions. "Peace would not be possible to realize except through this organization and its resolutions," he exclaimed also reiterating Lebanon's pledge to 1701 implementation. Mikati urged the UN to put an end to Israeli violations against aforesaid resolution, and similarly to Ban Ki-Moon, hailed prevailing cooperation between UNIFIL and Lebanese Army. Besides, Mikati met with Turkish foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, who voiced interest in the region's situation, mostly "in a peaceful and democratic change." Also, Mikati convened with the Jordanian and UAE Foreign Ministers, Nasser Abou Jawdeh and Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, with whom he tackled bilateral ties as well as most recent domestic and regional developments.
