The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MoFAIC, has organised the 5th Quality and Excellence Forum to shed light on performance measurement and focus on priorities.
The event, held at the ministry's headquarters, was opened by Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Acting Under-Secretary of MoFAIC, who welcomed the attendees.
Al Mazrouei highlighted the importance of the forum as a platform for excellence, which represents an opportunity to learn about and benefit from local, regional and international models in the field of applying pioneering best practices.
He said that the organisation of this forum comes in line with the ministry's belief that the march of leadership and excellence cannot be achieved unless we benefit from the experience of others and compare the levels of performance and achievement with them. This is reflected in the accomplishments of the country's institutions and their aspiration to support the realisation of the UAE Vision 2021.
He reviewed the changes made by the ministry at the time of the launch of the Strategy 2017-2021, which included the review and development of performance indicators in departments, focussing on indicators that measure the critical outputs required from each unit, measuring progress in priority initiatives, and not relying too much on quantitative indicators, which represented a burden on departments.
At the end of the forum, a debate was held to discuss the challenges related to performance management in the presence of a group of ministry officials.
