US President Obama held a meeting here last night with his national security team as a part of his regular basis meeting regarding Pakistan and Afghanistan issues.
"The President received an update on our engagement with the Pakistani Government on a range of issues of mutual interest, including efforts to strengthen cooperation along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border," a release by the White house office of the press secretary stated. "The US President received an update on preparations for the NATO Summit in Chicago, where the country will further define the ongoing transition to Afghan-lead security and NATO''s commitment to the future of Afghanistan as agreed to at the 2010 NATO Summit in Lisbon." it added. On Wednesday, representatives of the Pakistani army, NATO and Afghan forces held talks in Pakistan''s border town of Torkham in an effort to improve coordination along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and as a sign of easing of tensions between the United States and Pakistan after NATO airstrikes accidentally killed 24 Pakistani soldiers last year, according to Voice of America (VOA).
