Washington - UPI

The "throw the rascals out" sentiment runs deep in the majority of U.S. voters who say they would replace every member of Congress, Rasmussen Reports said. Survey results released Thursday indicate 62 percent of likely voters would dump all the current congressional members and start over. A mere 15 percent said they'd stick with the existing Congress and 23 percent said they were undecided. Sixty-three percent of voters also said Congress had a way of mucking up the works and making a bad situation worse, results indicated. Voters weren't just sour on Congress in general, Rasmussen Reports said. Just 32 percent of voters said they were even "somewhat" confident their own representative actually represented their best interests. Sixty-five percent said they didn't have that confidence. Results are based on a national telephone survey of 1,000 likely voters conducted July 30-31. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.
