Jakarta - Arab Today

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) led a ceremony to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Indonesia Civil Servants` Association (Korpri) at the National Monument, here, Wednesday.

Among those present at the ceremony were Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Asman Abnur, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

This year`s anniversary of Korpri is themed "46th Anniversary of Korpri - Working Together, and Loyal Forever."

In his remarks, President Jokowi reminded civil servants to remain politically neutral.

He also said that in this current open era of competition, several challenges lay ahead.

Global innovation and technological advancements not only facilitate daily life but have also changed the political and social life, economic landscape, and the life of the nation as well as the state, according to the president.

The private sector has come to realize this and has been making efforts to catch up with the progress.

He called on civil servants to also stay abreast of the advancements in delivery of services to the people whose demands continue to increase.

"Every member of Korpri must bring about self-improvement, give up routine practices, and strengthen the spirit of de-bureaucracy," he added.

Jokowi has also urged civil servants to constantly innovate by using science and technology to create effective breakthroughs in serving the public effectively, efficiently, transparently, and accountably
