HE Minister of Public Health and Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani and his accompanying delegation left Doha on Friday afternoon for Cairo to partake in meeting of the Executive Office of the Arab Health Ministers'' Council at the Arab League General Secretariat Headquarters and the 58th session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean slated for the Egyptian capital tomorrow, Saturday and run till Oct.05. HE the Minister of Public Health and the accompnaying delegation were seen off upon departure by a number of senior officials at the Supreme Council of Health (SCH). During the meeting of the Executive Office of the Arab Health Ministers'' Council, the arab ministers are to discuss the health conditions in somalia and how best to provide that drougth-stricken african country with necessary assistance , the latest regional and international developments of AIDS . The Executive Office member states, namely Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Egypt, the host country, Libya and Palestine are to attend the meeting plus Lebanon , the chairman of the current session which will attend as an observer . Whereas the 58th session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean scheduled on Oct.2-5, will discuss teh general annual report of 2010 , the phased reports, the nominating a new regional director for the (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean from among the candidates in a closed session to be held on Oct.3 to replace the current director Dr. Hussein Abdulrazzak Al-Jazaeri. The participants will also consider technical working papers they present tackling several important topics such as dengue fever and the strategy of mental health, the abuse of addiction substances in the Eastern Mediterranean Region 2012-2016, the reform of the WHO for a better health future and promoting the expanded programme of immunization to achieve the regional and global goals as well as strategic directions to advance research for health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.(
