The State of Qatar takes part in the 48th Session of the UN Statistical Commission due to be held in New York on 7-10 March 2017 with a delegation headed by HE Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al-Nabit the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics.
The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said in a statement on Sunday that the State of Qatar seeks through its participation in the event to be briefed on the latest developments relating to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the indicators adopted by the Statistical Commission of the United Nations to measure countries' progress towards achieving the economic, social and environmental objectives.
The State of Qatar will also take advantage through this participation to discuss mechanisms for the modernization of national statistical systems and curricula, the formulation of effective statistical policies that take into account national and international process of sustainable development needs and be acquinetd with the technical support provided by the United Nations and its organizations.
HE the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics is scheduled to hold meetings on the sidelines of the session with a number of heads of statistical agencies working at the regional and international levels along with heads of statistical bodies to discuss the latest developments of statistical process and exchange experiences.
