Ex-president director of state-owned port operator PT Pelindo II Richard Joost Lino met the Corruption Eradication Commissions (KPKs) summons for questioning as suspect in a graft case concerning the procurement of three quay container cranes.

Lino, wearing a leather jacket, arrived at 9:20 a.m. local time and was accompanied by his lawyer Maqdir Ismail.

"Lino is honoring the KPKs summons. He is ready to be questioned. Let us see the results of the questioning later," Ismail noted here on Friday.

The lawyer remarked that Lino was not in good health.

"His health condition was not good, but he is still attending his first questioning," he affirmed.

With regard to possible detention, Ismail was reluctant to comment on it.

"We will see," Ismail informed reporters in connection with the possible arrest of Lino.

Lino was named a suspect late last year in a corruption case over the procurement of the quay container cranes in 2010.

Lino had filed a pre-trial motion with the South Jakarta District Court to challenge being named as a graft suspect.

However, South Jakarta District Courts sole judge Udjiati rejected Linos pretrial arguments, which claimed the charges leveled against him by the KPK lacked legal basis and evidence.

The judge found no argument to order a halt to the investigation, as requested by Lino, since the KPK had collected at least 18 documents and had questioned dozens of witnesses in its probe into Linos role in the graft case.

Udjiati noted that the KPK investigators working on the case had clear mandates as the agency had the authority to appoint its own investigators as mandated by law.

The judge explained that the KPK also questioned Lino in the case before naming him a suspect. Hence, all necessary procedures have been completed.
