Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has dubbed his talks with Belgian counterpart Charles Michel in Brussels as "meaningful dialogue held in a friendly atmosphere," he said on Friday at a news conference after the talks.

"We did have very meaningful dialogue in a normal friendly atmosphere, when we could exchange views on a wide range of both bilateral and multilateral issues," Medvedev said.

According to the Russian head of government, the talks touched upon economic and political cooperation, including relations between Russia and the European Union. Security issues were also on the agenda.

"We spoke about all difficulties, pointed to lost opportunities and considered what could be done in the future," Medvedev said.

The Russian prime minister mentioned prospects for the two countries’ cooperation at the United Nations Security Council where Belgium will become a non-permanent member soon.

"To our mind, the United Nations remains the only universal international institution where issues could be solved," he said adding that Russia praised Belgium’s contribution to development of bilateral relations looking for solutions to the most complicated issues on international agenda.
