Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic
Belgrade - Arab Today

Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic declared victory in the presidential election Sunday night and promised continuity on the country's path toward EU membership, but also in friendly ties with Russia and China.
In a speech at his Progressive Party's (SNS) headquarters, Vucic said that voters showed which way they want Serbia to go, adding that Serbia will remain on the European and reformist path, but also friends with Russia and China.
Vucic won more than 55% of the votes cast, according to projections by pollsters IPSOS and the Centre for Free and Democratic Elections (CeSID).
For an outright victory, without having to go to a run-off, a candidate needs to win more than half of the votes.
The projection was based on a representative sample of polling stations. With about three-quarters of the ballots from hundreds of selected polling stations counted, chances of a turnaround were unlikely.
The state election commission is not making projections and even partial official results are not expected for hours.
