Lisbon - Arab Today

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is scheduled to hold a series of important meetings on the second day of his three-day official visit to Portugal.

An official reception ceremony for President Sisi will be held at 11:00 am on Monday outside the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon.

President Sisi will then lay a wreath at the tomb of Portugal's great national poet Luis de Camoes.

The president will then head for the Presidential Palace in Lisbon to hold important talks with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on bilateral ties, illegal migration and regional developments.

The talks will be followed by a press conference.

The two presidents will then head to the premises of the Portuguese cabinet to hold key talks with Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa on bolstering bilateral ties and a host of issues of mutual interest.

The premier will host a luncheon in honor of President Sisi.

President Sisi is also scheduled to meet Lisbon Mayor Fernando Medina, as well as a number of ambassadors accredited in Lisbon.

President Sisi arrived in Lisbon at 3:00 pm Sunday. He had an interview with the Portuguese news agency on bilateral relations and a number of international issues, including counter-terrorism.

This is the first visit by an Egyptian president to the European country in 20 years.
