President Abdel Fattah El Sisi welcomed remarkable development that has been witnessed in Egypt's ties with Ethiopia over the past two years.
Speaking during a meeting with Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn on the sidelines of the AU summit in Kigali of Rwanda, Sisi asserted the importance of going ahead with efforts to enforce outcome of the last meeting of the joint committee which was held in Addis Ababa in 2014.
Sisi underlined also the importance of continuing contacts to develop the relations at the popular level in light of these deeply-rooted ties, presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef said.
The president said that Cairo's keenness on granting further training and scholarships for Ethiopians along with development, technical and humanitarian aid that aim to contribute to achieving development aspired by the Ethiopian people, said the spokesman.
The Ethiopian prime minster hailed during the meeting the stances of the Egyptian leadership and its keenness on adopting wise policies at the regional and African levels.
He asserted his country's commitment to promote cooperation with Cairo in all fields in light of common destiny and the need of both countries to work together to combat challenges.
He hailed as distinguished the ties between Addis Abbas and Cairo.
The meeting discussed ways to boost the bilateral ties at all levels, said the spokesman, adding that Sisi and Desalegn agreed on continuing coordination and consultation on regional and international issues of mutual concern and on the Renaissance Dam.
They said they eye a start of studies on the dam soon to reach an accord on the bases of its filling and operation.
