Sudanese Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity Minister Moataz Moussa deemed as an "important step" the signing of contracts with two foreign consultancy firms that will study the impact of Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD).
In statements to the Sudanese newspaper "Akhbar Al Yom" on Tuesday, the minister said that the signing of the contracts on GERD Dam impact studies represents a new stage
in coordination among the three countries.
The coming stage will witness greater understanding among the three countries, the minister said.
The impact studies contracts with the two French consultancy firms; BRL and Artelia, aim at studying the impact of the Ethiopian dam on the two downstream countries; Egypt and Sudan, he added.
