UN envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura will submit on Wednesday, his report on the Geneva talks before a Security Council session.
During the closed session, the Security Council members await to find out de Mistura’s plans for the next round scheduled at the end of March.
They also said they want to him to discuss the tensions of the upcoming talks and to ensure its continuity, particularly in the absence of an agreement, and the various delegations representing the Syrian Opposition.
This comes as the participants for the Astana talks one and two are preparing to return again to the capital of Kazakhstan for a third edition, which is expected to be held on the 14 and 15 of this month, in a preparatory phase for the second round of the Geneva talks scheduled to be held in the 23 of the same month.
Observers believe that the upcoming Astana talks do not have a clear agenda yet, but according to the resolutions of the first round of Geneva 4, there is a mutual desire to maintain the ceasefire, which has been violated.
