The Sultanate, China Mark Diplomatic Relations.
Muscat - ONA

The Omani-Sino relations have been characterized by a depth and history spanning several centuries.  Chinese documents have estimated them for about 2,000 years.  While Omanis were the first to reach the shores of China, Omani-Sino relations were always based on many common points between the Omani and Chinese civilizations, especially those related to the peace-loving spirit and human communication among peoples, and the belief in the importance of dialogue, understanding, mutual respect and the desire to promote common and mutual interests.

Forty years ago, diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the People's Republic of China were established, and these relations have developed steadily; to achieve much growth and prosperity to the two friendly countries and peoples in many areas.  On May 25th 2018, on the occasion of 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations, these relations have witnessed a significant progress towards strengthening and deepening the fields of cooperation between the two countries.  His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said and President Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, decided to establish the strategic partnership between the two countries, which is the culmination of the continuous development of these established relations, and push for efforts to achieve development and common prosperity, and also to give priority to cooperation between the Sultanate and the People's Republic of China in all aspects to achieve interests, cooperation and coordination of bilateral relations and on regional and international issues of mutual interest.  This means developing the mechanisms, means and fields of cooperation between the two countries and the active Omani participation in the projects related to the "Belt and Road" initiative announced by the Chinese President and implemented to revive the Silk Road.  As well as  the full implementation of the complementary advantages of the two friendly countries in economy, trade, industry, traditional and renewable energy, scientific research, culture, tourism, media, youth, sports and other fields that achieve more prosperity for the two states and the friendly Omani and Chinese peoples, both at present and in the future.

In this context, Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour al-Hasani, Minister of Information, will visit tomorrow (Sunday) September 9th, the People's Republic of China, to participate in the cultural media event to be held in Beijing on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in addition to the unveiling the plaque of the Sohar Vessel Memorial in the famous Chinese City of Guangzhou.

It is worth noting that the Omani-Sino Media and Cultural Festival, in fact includes many media, cultural, artistic and musical events, which last for several days.  It reflects the importance of these relations at present and in the future.
