President Trump released a statement moments ago saying that he and Vice President Pence were tracking the situation in Alexandria and expressing their sadness at the bloodshed.
"The Vice President and I are aware of the shooting incident in Virginia and are monitoring developments closely," Trump said in the statement. "We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of Congress, their staffs, Capitol Police, first responders, and all others affected."
He also sent out a statement on Twitter saying that Scalise "was badly injured but will fully recover
