The UAE has deplored North Korea’s sixth nuclear test which caused an earth tremor in blatant breach of the international community’s will and resolutions in this regard.
In a statement reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stressed that those repeated nuclear tests do not only represent a challenge to the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons but also pose a real threat to global security and stability.
The ministry called to adhere to international conventions and covenants on prevention of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the world. It also called on the UN Security Council to handle such practices which can undermine peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and North East Asia.
It also demanded North Korea to adhere to the resolutions of the UN Security Council, calling on the relevant parties to use dialogue and diplomacy to curb tensions and maintain international peace and security.
