The UAE has confirmed its readiness, as per the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, to work, cooperate and interact with all United Nations strategies and initiatives aimed at mobilising regional and international efforts to provide assistance across various sectors, particularly in health and education.
This came during an 'Every Woman Every Child' movement event held on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly at its headquarters in New York, which saw the participation of Reem Abdullah Eisa Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
During the event, Al Falasi reiterated the UAE's full commitment to the initiative, as well as highlighting the third annual meeting of the UN Commission on Bullying scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi in December this year.
She emphasised the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood's keenness to cooperate with the United Nations Committee to ensure the success of the meeting and to achieve its objectives which constitute one of the most significant concerns of the UAE in promoting sustainable development, and engaging in developing human relations to assist women and children, especially those affected by natural disasters and wars.
"The UAE believes that investing women and children's development supports peace factors necessary to build more secure, stable and resilient societies," Reem Al Falasi said, stressing that the international community must continue to prioritise their support to said factors that are conducive to global peace and security.
