The United kingdom said on Tuesday it welcomes the Agreement signed on 14th July between the Government of Sudan and the Liberation and Justice Movement , adopting the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. "This is a positive step towards a lasting peace with justice in Darfur. We urge all armed movements to continue engaging with the Government of Sudan to reach a common agreement based on this document, and we call for an immediate ceasefire", said a statement issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The UK expresses it deep gratitude to Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud and to the Government of Qatar for their continued efforts to find a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict in Darfur. Qatar has worked tirelessly over the past two years to support the United Nations/African Union talks between the Government of Sudan and armed rebel movements, the statement noted. Qatar''s continued involvement and ongoing commitment to peace in Darfur through the chairmanship of the International Follow-Up Committee is very welcome and the UK remains committed to working closely with Qatar in their efforts, the statement said.
