Islamabad - Arab Today

Ukrainian Envoy in Pakistan Volodymyr Lakomov emphasized that in 2017, traditionally friendly relations between Ukraine and Pakistan have proved in significant increase of bilateral trade, military technical
cooperation and intensification of exchanges in the humanitarian and
education areas.
In a statement issued here on Friday, he said that during the previous
year Ukraine, despite all difficulties, demonstrated a stable growth
of economy -3,5%, increase in inflow of foreign investments and
improved living standards of population.
The ambassador said that in the dynamic leadership of President Petro Poroshenko Ukraine is going on the way of progress recently at his
traditional meeting with heads of diplomatic representation of foreign
states and international organizations accredited in Ukraine,Petro
Poroshenko summed up the results of the year 2017 and briefed on the
tasks the country will fulfill in 2018.
Besides the strategic achievements in its foreign policy that created
favorable conditions in curbing Russian aggression and supporting the
independence and the restoration of territorial integrity of the
country, President spoke on basic achievements in cardinal reforming
of Ukraine.
He stressed that Ukraine like no other country all over the globe was
able to face such a dramatic challenge and to deliver results on both
tracks – at the front of countering foreign aggression, and at the
front of necessary reforms. It would be impossible to make without the
support of our international partners.
Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine strengthened macroeconomic and
financial stability, and thus bringing confidence in Ukraine as from
potential investors. Last year, particularly in autumn, Ukraine took
important steps as regards the adoption of a number of strategic
reforms. They made Ukraine more resilient internally, and that is the
way to proceed this year.
Ukraine has set up a new Supreme Court of Ukraine – from scratch, and
by means of an open competition, with active participation of the
civil society.
The Government adopted an education reform – it will improve education
sector in Ukraine in compliance with its international obligations and
EU Member States practice, the pension reform – a key demand from the
IMF, the health care reform, including in rural areas – the greatest
breakthrough ever in the sector.
In 2018, Ukraine`s priorities in reforms are no less ambitious –
privatization, deregulation, improving investment climate, national
bureau on financial security, tax on withdrawn capital, liberal
legislation on currency, further improvement of tender legislation and
energy sector, and legislation on national security.
Ukraine managed not only to develop an anti-corruption punitive
system, but also to eliminate the basis for corruption. The policy of
decentralization has become an important tool to prevent corruption.
An extensive network of administrative services centers replaces
direct contacts with officials.
