Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says with the upcoming US presidential elections, Washington will seek to step up its Iran rhetoric. “The US is currently in a condition where it wants to harm Iran in any possible way. Given the forthcoming US elections this country might increase its moves against Iran,” Fars News Agency quoted Mehmanparast as saying on Monday. Last week, the US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel. Tehran has rejected the charges, saying the media hype created by Washington is an attempt to deflect international attention from the anti-corruption and anti-corporatism protests currently rocking the country. Mehmanparast confirmed that Iran has successfully managed to fend off the US pressures and is currently moving forward. Iran should continue with its policy of resistance and until the US childish acts are cast aside and the enemy abandons the battlefield, he added. The next US presidential elections is scheduled for November 6, 2012.
