Kabul - SPA
At least 14 people were killed and scores injured in several attacks in Afghanistan, officials said Tuesday. Six civilians were killed and 10 injured in two separate bomb attacks in Garmser and Marjah districts in the southern province of Helmand on Tuesday. A motorcycle packed with explosives was remotely detonated in a busy area in Garmser, killing three civilians and injuring nine others, police officer Shah Mahmoud Ashna said. "There are four children and two local policemen among the injured," he said. In Marjah, a roadside bomb hit a car, killing three civilians and injuring one, the provincial governor's office said in a statement. In the same province late Monday, three Georgian soldiers with the NATO-led troops were killed when Taliban militants attacked their base, the governor's spokesman said Tuesday. "Four insurgents armed with weapons and explosive-laden vests attacked the Georgian soldiers' base in Musa Qala district," Amar Zwak, the Helmand governor's spokesman, said. "The first one blew himself up at the gate, opening the way for the others," he told dpa. The remaining three assailants then opened fire and killed three soldiers before being shot dead, he said. Meanwhile, the Afghan Defence Ministry said Tuesday four of its soldiers were killed in separate incidents in Farah, Wardak and Helmand provinces.
