Kabul - XINHUA

A foreign journalist was killed and another one wounded in a shooting on Friday in eastern Afghan province of Khost, sources said. "One Afghan National Police (ANP) officer fired on two female western journalists in Tanai district of Khost province at around 11:45 a.m. (local time), killing one on the spot and injuring the other," a security official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. The motive behind the attack remained unknown. The incident came ahead of the presidential and provincial councils election on Saturday. The attacker was captured following the shooting and investigation was launched into the incident, the source noted. The victims working for the AP were covering the transportation of election materials to the district, and the attack took place inside the district governor office building, local media reported.
