Nine Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel, including a commander, have been killed in a Taliban attack in northern Balkh province, an official said on Tuesday.
Police spokesman Sher Jan Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants attacked ALP personnel Chahar Bolak district and killed some of them late on Sunday night.
However, he did not have exact casualty figures. He said a delegation had been dispatched to the area for investigations into the overnight assault.
Haji Atta Mohammad, a tribal leader, said nine ALP personnel were killed, including a commander named Abdul Karim. The commander was reportedly linked to the Junbish Millie Party.
As usual the Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault and said 10 ALP men, including two commanders were killed in.
