Units of police backed by the army and national intelligence agency have killed two dozen militants during series of operations across the war-torn country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement released on Saturday.
"A total of 24 armed insurgents have been killed during police operations backed by the army and National Directorate for Security over the past 24 hours," said the statement.
The operations have been conducted in Kunar, Oruzgan and Helmand provinces during which five more insurgents sustained injuries and another arrested.
The police-led operations have been continuing in parts of the provinces to ensure law and order, the statement said.
Taliban militants have yet to make comment.
