The Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced that its securityforces managed to thwart a number of terrorist operations in the capital Sana’aIn a statement issued this evening, the Ministry said security forces managed tothwart and frustrate a number of terrorist attacks that Al-Qaeda was planning tocarry out within the capital since the start of the military operation against terroriststrongholds in the southern Yemeni governorates of Abyan and Shabwa.The ministry explained that Al-Qaeda operations had been targeting vitalgovernment installations and security and military headquarters as well as someforeign embassies, noting that the monitoring and prosecution of terrorist elementsin charge of implementation and precautionary security measures by securityagencies prevented such terrorist operations.Security forces managed to arrest a number of suicide bombers and terrorists,including foreigners, the statement said.
