President of the Spanish Atletico Madrid Enrique Cerezo said Thursday the Late Abdullah Al-Roudhan Indoor Soccer Tournament has gained an international reputation due to participation of high profile players.
In a press statement, Cerezo, guest of the tournament, said he was eager to accept the invitation and get to know more about Kuwait and sports closely in the country.
The approach and continuation in holding such tournament by the organizing committee would ensures further development and worldwide success to the tournament, he stressed.
He added Al-Roudhan three decades old tournament and the exceptional organization and high attendance makes it a unique event.
In Regards to achieving his country's league title and qualification for the Champions League after last season, Cerezo said that Atletico has a long history in the Spanish tournament and that everybody in the club has worked hard in recent years to achieve this, noting that the club is looking to achieve more titles in the coming years, despite the departure of a number of key players in this summer.
Cerezo added the team's Coach Diego Simeone is well respected and vital to the team, noting that he was one of the main reasons the team shined in recent seasons, stressing that he was able to lead the team to more victories, including making an outstanding team that triumphed last season with also newcomers this upcoming season.
Cerezo said the junior team at the Spanish club is featuring Kuwaiti player Mohammad Al-Khamis, and he is performing well with his colleagues, praising as well the reception he received by Al-Roudhan soccer fans.
