Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, MICAD, and President of Zayed University, has thanked President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his directives to observe the 30th of November every year as 'Martyr's Day' in memory of and in tribute to the sacrifices offered by the nation's martyrs.
"The honour of our wise leadership to those who have sacrificed their lives to safeguard the destiny of our homeland against the forces of oppression and aggression, and to protect its children and people, reflects the values of justice and truth cherished by the UAE," she said.
Sheikha Lubna continued, "This tribute is customary in the UAE, where wise leadership honours those who sacrificed and persevered in all areas of the nation-building."
She said that history records the sacrifices made in defence of the nation, paying a rich tribute to Emirati martyrs who fell while defending their brothers in neighbouring states from aggression and oppression.
Sheikha Lubna provided solace to the families of the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in defence of the nation, adding that the UAE will never forget the sacrifices of its citizens and brave soldiers.
